Ticonderoga Class Starship Operations Manual
Following the victory of the United Systems Alliance in the war against the Klinshaya Empire in 2184 A.D. , the newly formed Alliance Starfleet felt the need to both modernize and enlarge the fleet. Learning numerous lessons from Terra's aging Icarus class battlecruisers before, during and after the war, a new starship design was envisioned incorporating the newest technologies of the Alliance worlds, a design as powerful as any in known space. The keel of the first of this class of starship was laid down in Mars Orbit in June of 2187, and would be christened U.A.S. Ticonderoga in honor of the starship that turned the tide of battle during the Klinshaya attack on Terra in 2180. Currently U.A.S. Ticonderoga serves a dual role as a fleet training vessel and is attached to the Sol System defense fleet.

First entering service in 2205, the Manning class frigate was designed to compliment the Ticonderoga heavy cruisers in a fleet escort role, as well as serving as a scout ship and science vessel. With sensor systems as advanced as any in Alliance service, the Manning class is able to detect enemy starships at greater distances than any other starship in known space. As maneuverable as a destroyer, this ship is also able to deliver as powerful punch as the cruisers of the previous generation. The Manning class was named in honor of General Deborah Manning, the first Terran to travel in hyperspace.

After peaceful relations were established with Terra, and hyperdrive technology became available many of these ships were modified to allow FTL travel. Kennavs saw combat in most of the battles of the Klinshaya War, most notably in the Klinshaya attack on Earth in 2180. Of the 208 Ryl'Atti vessels destroyed in that battle, 154 were Kennav class starships. This represented almost all of the Ryl'Atti's hyperspace capable fleet, and put an end to the Kernnav's career as a military vessel. Still constructed at Rylat as a commercial vessel using standardized Alliance technology, the Kennav is one of the most common vessels in space today, with some vessels approaching 75 years of service.

The Icarus class was the first full sized Terran warship to have a hyperspace engine installed, the technology of the time requiring that the antimatter reactor and hyperdrive engine be installed in the detachable pod beneath the main hull on the weapon sail. The last Icarus class ship in active service, the U.A.S. Hood BCSS-9, was decommisioned in 2201. In 2202, the construction plans of the Icarus were declassified by the Alliance government and sold to several starship construction firms. The Icarus is now seen plying the spacelanes as a heavy freighter over a century after the first ship saw service.

First encountered during the Klinshaya War, the Raptor class frigate proved to be a formidable opponent. The Klinshaya typically deployed these ships in squadrons of three ships, from which they would attack their targets in a rotating series of high speed strafing runs. Since the end of the war, the Raptor has been typically used as an espionage ship and hit and run raider. Now an aging design, Alliance Intelligence believes these vessels will be replaced in the near future by a more advanced class of starship.

First encountered in 2213, the Deathwing class cruiser represents an alarming trend in Klinshayan starship design. More powerful than any Klinshayan starship previously observed, the Deathwing approaches the level of firepower enjoyed by the front line Alliance heavy cruisers. While not as large or as heavily armored as the Ticonderoga class, the Deathwing does enjoy an acceleration and maneuverability advantage and may prove to be a tough opponent in any future conflicts.

First encountered in 2167 by U.N.S.S. Challenger, the Star Warrior class cruiser appears to be the only class of warship in use by the Therataan Protectorates. It is believed the Star Warrior has been in service for at least a millennia, and represents a technology nearly perfected at least that long ago. Powered by a zero point energy reactor rather than a matter/antimatter design, the Star Warrior can create it's own fuel from the hard vacuum of space itself. Recent encounters have allowed covert sensor scans to provide what data is available, although this data is incomplete and somewhat conjectural. It is also believed that other unknown weapon systems are installed on the Star Warrior, but these systems have yet to be observed in use. Should hostilities ever break out with the Therataan Protectorates, Alliance Star Fleet Command believes the Ticonderoga class heavy cruiser to be more than a match for the Star Warrior.
