[edit] Prelude

To retake the XON home system, the Alliance forces first needed a foothold in the region. Vice Admiral Zhany Worom decided to use UAC169141 as a staging area to amass forces for an attack on UAC163272.

Forces arrived in large convoys, bringing Defense Platforms and a Refit Station to assemble a forward base. When the base was assembled an Icarus transport ship, S.S. Detroit, without any military weapons traveled to UAC163272 to try to make contact with the Therataan Protectorates.

At the system, the Detroit found seven Star Warriors guarding the system. It was obvious the Therataan were willing to sacrifice nearly their entire fleet to prevent the Alliance from accomplishing it’s objective. The Star Warrior ships in the system opened fire causing damage to the ship.

The S.S. Detroit retreated to UAC169141 in order to warn the fleet of the danger in the system. They were followed shortly by the T.S.S. Reverant Warrior.

[edit] The Battle

The Therataan ship told the fleet ships to leave the area, and that the territory was being annexed as well. The commander of the Second Fleet, Vice Admiral Zhany Worom refused to surrender the system, and a battle ensued.

Strangely enough, none of the Star Warriors in this battle possessed MagPulse technology. It is possible they were older model Star Warrior ships which were more to intimidate the Alliance forces than to battle them.

Several other Star Warriors entered the system and attempted to destroy the base which was set up around a venusian planet in the system. However these ships were destroyed by the U.A.S. Essex, which was amazingly enough being crewed by a crew of lower ranked inexperienced officers.

The T.S.S. Bane of Rodom was the final ship to enter the system. It entered very close to the U.A.S. Challenger and fired a full load of weapons into the side of the ship, killing the bridge crew. Only five total officers lost their lives due to the speedy response from surrounding ships and medical teams.

[edit] The Aftermath

The Alliance victory in the system allowed for a forward command base to be established. With this base, the Second Fleet was able to proceed with the Battle of UAC163272 on schedule. It also provided a nearby area to store defense platforms which were later moved to UAC163272 after the system was secured.

The victory against the Star Warriors also gave the Second Fleet the confidence and morale boost it needed to commit itself to an attack at UAC163272.
